Our knowledge of the industry is full circle and has been obtained after years of hands-on experience
in all aspects of airline/charter operations and oversight. Our experience and expertise relates to
all transport and most corporate types of aircraft including helicopters. (We have managed corporate
fleets from purchase analysis through completion - fit out, crew, maintenance and dispatch.) We have
valued in excess of 225 aircraft, 35 major rotable inventories, over 200 engines (turbojet,
turbofan, and turboprop), several airline operating certificates US and Foreign (Part 121, 125 and
135 Air Carriers and equivalent.), some 12,000 pieces of airline support ground equipment, landing
slots and gates, flight simulators, and military surplus as related to aviation assets.
sage-popovich, inc. feels uniquely qualified to perform inspections, record audits, and appraisals
because our personnel are proven airline professionals with hundreds of combined years of experience
between them. Additionally, while we may normally only dispatch one or two inspectors to physically
observe the aircraft to reduce the cost to our client, we have the information and records reviewed
by at least two staff members prior to publishing our reports. We have found that each staff member
contributes a decidedly different set of comments from a totally different perspective.
Provided below are the credentials of the team leaders, key inspectors, and the key
support personnel.
Among the aircraft inspectors is Michael J. Connelly. In addition to a Bachelor's Degree from Embry Riddle University in Aircraft Maintenance Management, Mike brings years of operational experience on the Douglas and Boeing family of aircraft and also served as supervisor on the DC-9 production line for several years. A licensed FAA A&P mechanic and ex-DAR with unlimited authority, Mike worked his way up the chain of command to the position of Director of Maintenance within several airlines. He has spent time with such carriers as Southern Air Transport, Evergreen, National, Air Florida and Midway. Mike's experience has enabled him to perform inspections much like he did when he dispatched an aircraft for flight. Years of experience enable him to look at critical areas of the airframe for tell-tale warning signs of problems to come and to also determine what is required in the way of preventive, routine and non-routine maintenance. We are rather proud of Mike's ability to predict the amount of non-routine man-hours and maintenance that an aircraft will require during heavy check by a quick, detailed walk-around aircraft inspection.
Elwood "Woody" Pridgen, Jr. also performs aircraft inspections and records audits. His vast aviation experience and credentials include an FAA A & P License Embry Riddle Aviation School and on-site and hands-on management while serving as the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance for Saudi Arabian Airlines for nearly thirty years. After retiring from this position, Woody served as the Director of Maintenance with Universal Aviation Company for a brief period. Woody is familiar with a wide variety of transport-category aircraft including Boeing (McDonnell Douglas) (D-18, DC-3, DC-6, DC-9, B737, B720, B707, B747-100, B747-300, B747SP), Airbus (A300-600), Convair (240/580) and Lockheed (L-1011).
A team leader who contributes to the aircraft inspections is James "Billy" Stone. Billy comes heavily qualified as an Aircraft Maintenance Manager with extensive experience as a Director of Maintenance and as a Director of Purchasing with several major airlines. His accomplishments include the development of a "start to finish" maintenance package for Boeing 737 aircraft, as well as the design and implementation of a Production Control System which lead to significantly reduced maintenance time for a fleet of 50 aircraft. A U.S. licensed FAA A & P mechanic, Billy is familiar with a variety of transport-category aircraft including both Boeing and Douglas aircraft. His past experiences include service with Eastern Airlines as a line maintenance mechanic for 10 years, 8 years in Saudi Arabia for TWA as the Superintendent of Maintenance Planning, Director of Maintenance for Braniff and Airtech Services, Inc. and the Director of Purchasing and Stores with another shop which was purchased by Dynair Tech of Florida, Inc.
